To evaluate at first sight the degree of security of an armour-plated door is not so easy, but, thanks to the Italian and European Norms in this matter, it is possible to establish if they satisfy some well defined requirements.

The UNI 9569 and the ENV 1627 Norms establish the trials the armour-plated doors have to pass to be defined in that way and they classify them according to their resistance to house breaking.
So the certification is a certificate issued only for the models of doors which pass highly selective tests.
For the execution of these tests and for the eventual issue of the homologation there are laboratories and institutes officially recognized, where every company who wants to homologate one of its models has to address itself.

The examination the samples of the doors have to be submitted to, provides, besides the check of the project, real proofs of breaking and breakthrough..

The UNI 9569 norm, published on 1989, up to 1999 was the only reference for this kind of tests.
The ENV norm, published on 1999, is on the contrary a European pre-norm which establishes which trials the armour-plated doors have to pass to be defined in that way not only in Italy, but in all European countries.

The actual state of "experimental" European Norm depends on the lacking of experience in this kind of trials from some countries. So the norm provides a temporary period when all these countries (19) are given the possibility to acquire the experience in the applicaton of the Norm, to exchange these experiences and to harmonize the procedure.
It has been therefore established to transform the ENV into EN in 2002, and as a consequence to render it definite, and finally to withdraw the UNI.

During the experimental period both Norms maintain their validity, constituting in that way a scale of parallel evaluation: the UNI 9569 Norm attributes to the doors which pass the tests a class of belonging numbered from one to four and the ENV from one to six, according to the tools used for the trial and to the length of it.

Among the four classes provided by the UNI 9569 Norm, the second is the one which better guarantees the optimum security to the house (the third and the fourth ones are in fact suggested for more professional destinations); on the contrary, for the Norm ENV 1627 the classes which refer to professional destinations are the fifth and the sixth ones.
It must be noticed that, beside having a different scale of evaluation, the classes of the two norms are not perfectly comparable. Some parameters are indeed different: the ENV 1627 gives more attention to the tests of static load (mechanical strengh of the door); besides, double doors, armour-plated shutters and doors with armoured glass can be tested.
For the UNI 9569 the main trial is the manual breaking, and only single doors can be tested.
After considering these differences, it can nevertheless be affirmed that Class 2 of the UNI 9569 Norm is comparable to an intermediate class between the three and the four of the ENV 1627.
Finally, for the final Customer it is very important to know that, in order to be in compliance with one of the mentioned Norms, the armour-plated door has to pass all trials it is submitted to, and not only one or more tests.

T&R has submitted the models of its production both to UNI 9569 than to the ENV 1627 tests.
The doors of GOLD and GOLD PLUS Series have been approved according to UNI 9569 Class 2, while SILVER, GOLD, GOLD PLUS Series have been tested according to ENV, obtaining respectively Class 2,3 and 4.
Also the armour-plated shutters, submitted to ENV 1627 tests, have been classified Class 2.
So, to recognize at first sight a homologated armour-plated door is very easy: the Norms provide that on the door itself the Constructor, the Class of certification and the matriculation number will be indicated. Besides, this fact prevents a model non certified from being considered that way.
Now you know what to require from an armour-plated door, but do not limit yourself by demanding class, experience, and engagement in the research.
Be not satisfied of forefront technologies and quality in the service. To Torterolo&Re armour-plated doors you can surely ask for something more: beauty.
Wide the choice of models, still wider the variety of their finishings: classic or modern, in precious wood or in the colours of the lacquered Medium Density, they are all really beautiful. Because an armour-plated door is chosen with the reason, but it can be appreciated with the eyes and with the hearth.
